Lexx is a U.S. Student Fulbright Scholar working as an English Teaching Assistant (ETA) at a secondary school in Malaysia. The Fulbright Program is one of the most prestigious awards programs worldwide, operating in more than 140 countries. It is the United States’ number one diplomacy program and was created in 1946 by U.S. Senator J. William Fulbright to foster mutual understanding between the U.S. and other countries.

“It has always been my dream to travel the world, experience different cultures, and become a part of a community. I am blessed to have the opportunity to do exactly that. Malaysia is beautiful, its people are so genuine and welcoming, and the food is delicious. I absolutely LOVE teaching and exposing my students as well my fellow teachers to different parts of American culture. Many of these people only know what they have seen on TV and have never met an American much less a black American. For example, everyone tends to be very curious and excited about my hair, and people are always shocked when I tell them how few rich people there actually are in America, haha. All in all, I’m having an amazing time and I encourage everyone to take every opportunity to travel!”
