Confirmation of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Zeta Sigma Chi remains committed to justice, equity, and the right to accessible, science-based healthcare. Last week’s confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Health Secretary is not just a political shift—it is a direct threat to public health and sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice that impacts underserved communities across the country, including people of color, LGBTQ+ people, and women.

You can watch a portion of the confirmation hearing regarding his stance on science and vaccinations  here.

Kennedy has been inconsistent on his stance on abortion rights which raised major concerns about his commitment to reproductive healthcare. At his confirmation hearings, he stated his openness to abortion restrictions, aligning himself with policies that would further erode access to healthcare. Kennedy also has a history of promoting vaccine misinformation and has made several unscientific claims about race-based vaccine needs. These statements have been disproved by medical professionals and experts. During his confirmation hearings, lawmakers questioned him on his previous false claim and belief that Black Americans should follow a different vaccine schedule, a dangerous notion that could further widen health disparities and undermine public health efforts to help people get vaccines when they need them. Public health must be led by science, not conspiracy theories. Read more.

We urge our sorors and communities to stay informed, speak out, and hold policymakers and public officials accountable for protecting sexual and reproductive rights and making public health decisions based on facts, not fear.
